Good afternoon all Sea Horse Park owners.
I guess it is time to face the ugly truth about Hurricane Helene’s damage to Sea Horse Park. Please read this email and understand the seriousness of the situation.
The Sea Horse Park business office and clubhouse are completely destroyed. I came to work today at 8:00am. I could not sleep very well last night thinking about the potential damage to the Park. The reality of the situation was way worse than I thought it would be. Gary and I walked around the Park and It appears that every unit in Sea Horse Park has suffered major flooding. What that means is every unit has had flooding of at least 4 to 5 feet of water that entered their unit. When you look at the lines on the units from the high water mark, you immediateky realize that you have been majorly flooded. Way worse than anything that I have seen in the 24 years that I have been here.
I took a video of the entire Park and it was frightening. Piles of furniture, appliances, personal items were stacked by the road in huge amounts. Looks like a scene from a disaster movie. I am truly sorry to report that this is for real and our luck has run out.
Sadly, when I left the Park today, I was a bit depressed about the situation. I saw things that I never have seen before. I am a native Floridian and this just blows me away.
For those of you who gave me permission to enter your unit, it simply was not necessary to do so when you saw the debris high water line mark on the outside of the unit. In my opinion, the power should not be turned on at this point because of the potential of being electrocuted because of very wet conditions inside the units.
You may decide to come down to Florida to do your own evaluation or maybe you won’t. Either way, I believe that you will not want to stay in your unit because of potential hidden dangers. Don’t take a chance with your life. Gary and I are actively shutting off all circuit breakers for safety reasons. Believe me, you are affected by this, all of you.
As far as the future of Sea Horse Park, God only knows. It will take a lot of time, effort and the will to do so to recover from this. Many of you may decide to call it quits. That is a very personal decision for you to make. I hope that we can get through this but it will not be easy.
Everyone take care and at least, no one in Sea Horse Park was killed or injured. Things can be replaced but people can’t. I will advise you if things change and I am trying to keep a smile on my face. Hope is all we have right now. Thank you.
Travis
